First Wave of Alternate Selections:
If the automatic qualifier (from any age category/weight class group) is unable to accept their position, an additional team member will be selected from the following list: Any second-place finishers from the 2025 Powerlifting America Bench Press National Championships in each aforementioned age category and weight class will be grouped together and ranked by IPF GL formula points. Any Open Champions who did not receive an automatic selection by virtue of also not achieving 50% of the current world record will also be added to this first wave of alternates.
Second Wave of Alternate Selections:
If the automatic qualifier (from any age category/weight class group) is unable to accept their position and the first wave of alternates has been exhausted, an additional team member will be selected from the following list: All remaining finishers (third place and lower) from the 2025 Powerlifting America Bench Press National Championships in the aforementioned age category and weight class will be grouped together and ranked by IPF GL formula points.
Third Wave of Alternate Selections:
If the automatic qualifier (from any age category/weight class group) is unable to accept their position and both the first and second wave of alternates have been exhausted, a form* will be available to “request” a spot on the team for any remaining available spots. You must have competed in a 2024/2025 Powerlifting America National event, NAPF Regional event, or IPF World event to request a spot. Once the submission deadline has ended, spots will be filled based on GL Point comparison, if needed. (*Request forms for IPF Worlds will be available after the 2025 Bench Nationals has concluded)
*Note: When comparing lifters of the same age and weight class, the lifter with the higher total will be invited, regardless of formula points.
2025 NAPF Regional Classic and Equipped Bench Press Championship Team Selection Criteria:
Automatic Selections:
The men’s and women’s classic and equipped bench press second-place finishers of their respective age category and weight class at the 2025 Powerlifting America Bench Press National Championships will automatically be selected as a member of the National Team representing the United States.
Exception: If a Second-place finisher makes the National Team for 2025 IPF World Bench Press Championships, by virtue of a Champion (first-placer) declining Worlds in lieu of the 2025 NAPF Regional Bench Press Championship selection, then that Champion will be added to this Automatic Selection group; and the Second-Place finisher that competed at Worlds will be moved down to the First Wave of Alternate Selections for the 2025 NAPF Regional Bench Press Championship.
First Wave of Alternate Selections:
If the automatic qualifier (from any age category/weight class group) is unable to accept their position, an additional team member will be selected from the following list: Any first-place (Champions) finishers from the 2025 Powerlifting America Bench Press National Championships in each aforementioned age category and weight class will be grouped together and ranked by IPF GL formula points.
(*Request forms for the NAPF Regionals will be available after the 2025 IPF Bench Worlds has concluded).
